This is the second of seven tradeskill related quests to produce an item that improves in quality at each step and is a good, in-era item.

This quest line is also a pre-requisite for The Artisan's Prize as of 2016.

You must have completed Not So Simple Jewelry in order to request this task.

The quest line is given by Eron Nurwistle in Dragonscale Hills. He’s located at 794, -568, 183 – at the top of a windmill near the middle of the zone.
He is on find, but mysterious forces may prevent you from getting a path.

You must have a minimum skill of 250 in Pottery to receive this task.

At the end of Not So Simple Jewelry:

Eron Nurwistle says 'This is a fine piece of work. You truly are skilled. For the next task you must be a highly skilled [potter].'

You say, 'Potter'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. Though Meldrath is brilliant, sometimes odd things happen and unintended, um, events happen. In the guardian some of the soot from the machinery has taken on a life of its own. I believe it is an interaction with the faycite crystals and the magics that he often uses to help his creations have that extra spark. But that is beside the point. The next step in making the jewelry and in my revenge lies within the [guardian].'

You say, 'Guardian'

Eron Nurwistle says 'I am sure you have seen it. It is the great lumbering beast that you see wandering about dragonscale hills. My next task for you is in there. You will need to talk to someone that calls himself Overvolt Rigster. He will know how you can get into the guardian, probably through the maintenance shaft in the foot. Do you want to [enter] the guardian? Since you will need to do some pottery in order to make the extra settings for the jewelry, you must be an expert potter for me to assign this task to you. Overvolt may also require you to bring some friends with you to allow entry into the guardian.'

You say, 'I want to enter.'

You have been assigned the task 'Clay Within the Beast'.

Eron Nurwistle says 'Good good. Oh, you have a perplexed look on your face. Did I skip something again? Oh, what do you need pottery for? Simple, or really not so simple, but that is beside the point. When you destroy some of the soot being in the guardian, though they will always leave their soot behind, sometimes it will have just the correct consistency. This soot can then be made into spectacular clay that caries some of the animating forces of the well... soot. When you get the soot, you will make some clay, and then use this clay to make a special set of settings for the jewelry. Incidentally, when you are in the tower, you will need to gather two [crystals].'

You say, 'crystals'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. It will actually be some of the faycite. This time I will make an exchange. While you are there find two blue gem grade faycite and give one to me. In return I will give you some clear faycite for use in the jewelry.'

This task requires the acquisition of ingredients from the Mechamatic Guardian, which is only available as an instance that is started with Overvolt Rigster the IV who can be found in the north of Dragonscale Hills. He is on find, but is located at 2642.31, -2514.92, 27.96.

Requesting a Mechamatic Guardian Instance:

You say, 'Hail, Overvolt Rigster the IV' Overvolt Rigster the IV says, 'Hi there Soandso! I'm Overvolt Rigster, though you probably already know that. My name is echoed in the halls and streets of Ak'Anon and beyond! I've been out here in Dragonscale Hills for what seems like an eternity, trying to find adventurers such as yourself to do [business] with. I need to continue to provide the finest goods to my associates!'

You say, 'business'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says, 'Why yes, business! Surely you know what goods I sell and what goods I'm looking for! My merchant-ware is echoed in the halls and streets of Ak'Anon of course! I'm looking for other [opportunists] like myself that might be out to make a quick buck or two. Are you one of those?'

You say, 'opportunists'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says, 'Aye! I've got several jobs that I need able bodied adventurers to acquire mechanical parts and supplies so that I can further my trade. Would you be [interested] in acquiring a few items for me? If you've got any friends who may want to help out, I've also got some other specific [jobs] that I need groups of people to do for me.'

You say, 'interested'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says, 'Good! For starters, I need someone to [explore] the Mechamatic Guardian and bring me a map of that giant behemoth. There's so much potential for scrap parts and supplies there, but I don't know where to look! Next, I need someone to acquire [modulators] and [stabilizers] for me. To be used in the production of various clockwork and steamwork contraptions! Finally, I need you to find one of my [scout clockworks] that I sent into the Guardian to explore the zone. It's very valuable to me and I'd like to get it back here safe and sound. While these are individual tasks, you will need to gather some friends to go with you into the guardian. Let me know if you'd like to gather some folks and [head into] the Mechamatic Guardian.'

You say, 'head into'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says, 'Alrighty! I've seen first hand on how to get in. Just walk up to the mechanical beast roaming these hills and try to get into the escape capsule located in the foot! Be careful though, you may die if you don't run in quick...'

You have been assigned the task 'The Mechamatic Guardian: Adventures'.

Quest Details:

Loot 14 Twitching Soot (0/14) The Mechamatic Guardian

Twitching Soot is a common drop off any cloud mob in both solo task and group instances within the Guardian. These mobs can be found on the second floor.

Blue Gem Grade Faycite is a fairly common drop clockworks in both solo task and group instances within the Guardian.
